The Good-Lite® Company has developed a computer-based Vision Screening System
(VSS) that provides acuity tests for children as young as 3 years to adults.
The screening software will display LEA SYMBOLS®, HOTV, LEA NUMBERS®, and
Sloan Letters optotypes ranging from 20/100 to 20/10 (6/30 to 6/3) equivalent, 0.20 to
2.00. Optotypes can be displayed as either single line, single line with 50% spaced
rectangles, or single optotypes with 50% crowding bars. The VSS can also quickly
display critical lines only of 20/40 (6/12) for 3-5 yr olds and 20/32 (6/9.5) for 6 and older.
The screening software can be quickly calibrated to a testing distance of either 5, 10, or 13 feet.
